The official opening of the 2026 summer season
The Minister of the Interior, Local Governments and Transport, Mr. Said Saioud, accompanied by the Director General of Civil Protection, Colonel Boualem Boughlaf, the Minister of Tourism and Traditional Industries, Ms. Houria Madahi, the Minister of Public Works and Basic Installations, Mr. Abdelkader Glaoui, and the Governor of the State of Tizi Ouzou, in the presence of the Director of Civil Protection of the State of Tizi Ouzou, supervised the official opening of the 2026 summer season in the municipality of Azfoun, the State of Tizi Ouzou.
By the way, the General Directorate of Civil Protection organized a practical field exercise at Al-Kharrouba Beach, which simulated a collision between a jet ski and a pleasure boat, followed by a fire and a number of casualties at sea. The readiness of the marine rescue teams, divers and beach guards was reviewed, and the level of coordination and effectiveness in search, rescue and ambulance operations was highlighted.
An exhibition was also organized that included various partners and actors involved in securing the summer season, during which the means and equipment used to protect holidaymakers and promote the culture of prevention were displayed.
As part of the implementation of the national plan for the 2026 summer season, the General Directorate of Civil Protection has installed a beach guard unit starting June 1, 2026, across the entire national coastal strip. A significant operational unit consisting of approximately 10,700 personnel, including professional civil protection personnel, civil protection divers, and seasonal personnel, has been deployed to ensure the guarding and securing of more than 470 beaches permitted for swimming, distributed across 14 coastal states.
This device has also been supported by various land, sea, ambulance, rescue and communication means, ensuring rapid and effective intervention in various emergency situations and potential accidents during the summer season.
On the other hand, the General Directorate of Civil Protection continues to implement its national prevention and awareness program, which was launched on May 1, 2026, and is directed at citizens and vacationers, with the aim of spreading the culture of prevention, promoting safe behaviors, raising awareness of the dangers of swimming in unguarded or prohibited places, as well as preventing drowning accidents in the sea and water complexes.
The General Directorate of Civil Protection affirms its constant commitment to providing all security and safety conditions for citizens during the summer season, calling on everyone to adhere to preventive instructions and respect the directives of beach guards, in order to preserve lives and property and ensure a safe and enjoyable summer for everyone.
