Civil Protection Units intervention results between July 12 and 13, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

During the period from July 12 to 13, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 4,800 interventions, averaging one intervention every 18 seconds. These included 2,083 medical evacuations and 913 other operations, across several provinces of the country, following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 214 interventions following numerous accidents across the country. These accidents resulted in two (2) fatalities at the scene and injuries to 263 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals.
For your information, the Civil Protection services intervened to extinguish two urban fires in the provinces of Oran and M’Sila. These fires resulted in eight people suffering from respiratory difficulties. The first fire broke out in an apartment on the third floor of a five-story building (ground floor + 5 floors) in the 2500 Housing Estate, Wadi Tlilat Municipality and District, Oran Province. The second fire, which occurred in an electrical meter box at the entrance of a four-story building (ground floor + 4 floors) in the 150 Housing Estate, M’Sila Municipality and District, also resulted in three people suffering from respiratory difficulties. The victims received on-site treatment and were then transferred to local health centers. Our emergency services successfully contained both fires and prevented their spread to neighboring areas.
Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service during the last 24 hours, they carried out 888 interventions, rescuing 653 people from imminent drowning and providing first aid to 201 people on site. Additionally, 33 people were transferred to local health centers. One person, aged 70, drowned at the sea off the beach known as Mamarine 01 (a rocky area where swimming is prohibited), in the municipality of Boudaou El Bahri, Boudaou District, Boumerdès Province. The body was transferred to the morgue of the local hospital.
It should be noted that two deaths were recorded at water reservoirs, one each in the provinces of Laghouat and Djelfa. In Laghouat province, a 33-year-old man drowned in the Seklafa dam in the municipality of Oued Mzi, Oued M’ra district. In M’Sila province, a 42-year-old man drowned in an irrigation basin in the area known as Lazouach, in the municipality and district of Had Sahari. The victims were transferred to the morgues of local hospitals.
Likewise, the Forest and Agricultural Crops Firefighting Service intervened during the same period to extinguish 197 vegetation fires, including: 30 forest fires, 5 bush fires, 51 scrub fires, 40 agricultural crop fires, 36 fruit tree fires, 26 hay bale fires, and 9 palm tree fires, across several states of the country. It is worth mentioning that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to the rest of the vegetation.
