The outcome of the Civil Protection Units’ intervention between July 28 and 29, 2026 (during the last 24 hours)

   During the period from July 28 to 29, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 4,285 interventions (an average of one intervention every 20 seconds), including 2,130 medical evacuations and 504 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 216 interventions following numerous accidents across the country. These accidents resulted in 4 fatalities at the scene and injuries to 267 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims received on-site treatment and were then transported by our services to local hospitals.

For your information, the Civil Protection intervened to extinguish two (02) urban fires in the provinces of Medea and Boumerdès. These fires resulted in 13 people suffering from shortness of breath in the province of Medea, as well as one person suffering first-degree burns in the province of Boumerdès. The victims were treated at the scene and then transferred to local health centers. Our emergency services’ intervention enabled us to control these two fires and prevent their spread to other neighboring areas.

Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service during the last 24 hours, they carried out 1,112 interventions, which allowed for the rescue of 836 people from imminent drowning, as well as providing first aid to 233 people on site, in addition to transferring 41 people to local health centers. Four drowning deaths were recorded in the following provinces: Algiers Province: 1 child, aged 6, drowned at Serkouf Beach, Ain Taya Municipality, Dar El Beida District; Oran Province: 1 teenager, aged 16, drowned at Monta Beach (a beach where swimming is prohibited), Oran Municipality and District; Tipaza Province: 1 young man, aged 23, drowned at the rocky area of ​​the Gulf (a beach where swimming is prohibited), Gouraya Municipality and District; Skikda Province: 1 young man, aged 18, drowned at Oued Righa Beach, Filfila Municipality, Skikda District. The bodies of the victims were transferred Civil Protection personnel transported patients to local hospitals.

During the same period, the Forestry and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened to extinguish 23 vegetation fires, including: 7 forest fires, 2 scrubland fires, 1 dry grass fire, 3 agricultural crop fires, 4 fruit tree fires, 5 hay bale fires, and 1 palm tree fire, across several provinces nationwide. The rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to other vegetation.
