Civil Protection Units intervention results between August 2 and 8, 2026 (weekly results)
Between August 2nd and 8th, 2026, Civil Protection units recorded 28,950 interventions following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and providing security coverage for various events.
Regarding medical evacuations, our units carried out 15,736 interventions, during which 15,197 injured and ill individuals were treated and transported to hospitals by Civil Protection personnel.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 2,984 incidents involving 1,667 traffic accidents, resulting in 54 deaths and 2,145 injuries. The injured were treated and transported to hospitals. The highest number of casualties was recorded in Constantine province, with 6 deaths at the scene and 84 injuries in 46 traffic accidents.
Civil Protection units also responded to 4,154 incidents, extinguishing 2,945 fires, including residential, industrial, and other types of fires. The most significant fires were recorded in Blida province (183 fires), Algiers province (182 fires), and Oran province (117 fires).
Furthermore, during the same period, our units carried out 6,076 interventions across various operations, rescuing 465 people in danger and providing 5,044 emergency medical services.
Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service during the same period, it carried out 7,781 interventions, enabling the rescue of 5,641 people from imminent drowning, as well as providing first aid to 1,794 people on site. Additionally, 344 people were transferred to local health centers. Ten people drowned at sea, and nine drowned in other bodies of water.
Furthermore, the Forest and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened during the same period to extinguish 334 vegetation fires, including 52 forest fires, 21 scrubland fires, 58 brush fires, 24 crop fires, 72 fruit tree fires, 79 hay bale fires, and 28 palm tree fires, across several provinces of the country. It is worth noting that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to other vegetation.
