Civil Protection Units intervention results between August 13 and 15, 2026 (in the last 48 hours)

Between August 13th and 15th, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 8,984 interventions, averaging one intervention every 19 seconds. These included 4,243 medical evacuations and 971 other operations across several provinces nationwide, following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
Regarding traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 439 interventions following numerous accidents across the country. These accidents resulted in 5 fatalities at the scene and injuries to 543 others, ranging in severity. The injured were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals.
For your information, Civil Protection personnel intervened to extinguish six urban and other fires in the following provinces: Oran (2 fires), Ain Defla (1 fire), Tizi Ouzou (1 fire), Annaba (1 fire), and Timimoun (1 fire). These fires resulted in injuries to four people with burns and 15 people suffering from respiratory distress in Oran province. Additionally, one person sustained third-degree burns in Timimoun province, one person suffered burns in Tizi Ouzou province, and six people suffered respiratory distress in Ain Defla province. The victims received on-site treatment and were then transferred to local health centers. Our emergency services successfully contained these fires and prevented their spread to neighboring areas.
Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service during the last 48 hours, it carried out 2699 interventions, which allowed for the rescue of 1911 people from certain drowning, as well as providing first aid to 618 people on site, in addition to transferring 167 people to local health centers, with the recording of 04 drowning deaths in the sea in the province of Algiers: 01 person who drowned in the sea, at Ain Benian beach (a beach where swimming is prohibited – a rocky area), Ain Benian municipality, Cheraga district, province of Skikda: 01 a 17-year-old teenager who drowned in the sea, at El Marsa beach, El Marsa municipality, Ben Azzouz district, province of Mostaganem: 01 person who drowned in the sea, at a beach where swimming is prohibited – a rocky area, Abdelmalek Ramdane municipality, Sidi Lakhdar district, province of Jijel: 01 person who drowned in the sea. At Zawiya beach (a beach where swimming is prohibited), in the municipality and district of Jijel, the victims’ bodies were transferred to local hospitals.
Also, during the same period, the Forestry and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened to extinguish 63 vegetation fires, including: 6 forest fires, 5 scrubland fires, 14 brush fires, 13 fruit tree fires, 18 hay bale fires, and 7 palm tree fires, across several provinces of the country. It is worth noting that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to other vegetation.
Regarding the interventions of the Civil Protection agents related to the heavy rainfall that the state of Tamanrasset witnessed during the last 48 hours, the water level of the Tamanrasset River was recorded in the Adrian neighborhood, the Tighlaline River and the Amlaouloun River, where our services intervened to rescue 03 people who were on board a car that was surrounded by the waters of the Tighlaline River in the municipality of Tamanrasset, as well as to rescue (02) people who were on board a car that was surrounded by the waters of the Azarzou River in the municipality of Ain Amguel.
