Civil Protection Units’ intervention results between September 12 and 13, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

   Between September 12 and 13, 2026 (up to 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units carried out 3,386 interventions—averaging one every 25 seconds—across various provinces in response to distress calls from citizens. These operations covered the full spectrum of Civil Protection activities, including responses to traffic accidents, domestic incidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and general safety operations.

Regarding traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 170 incidents across the country. These accidents resulted in three fatalities at the scene and left 241 others with injuries of varying severity; victims received on-site care and were subsequently transported by our teams to local hospitals.

Additionally, Civil Protection units in M’Sila Province responded to a fire involving the engine of a tanker truck used for heating bitumen. The incident occurred in the Ouled Moulahom area (Ain El Hadjel Municipality and District) and resulted in one person suffering second-degree burns. The victim received on-site treatment before being transferred to the local health center; the intervention by our emergency teams successfully brought the fire under control and prevented it from spreading. Regarding the interventions of the beach and recreation area lifeguard units over the past 24 hours, lifeguards carried out 623 operations. These efforts resulted in rescuing 431 people from imminent drowning and providing on-site first aid to 178 individuals, while 8 people were transferred to local health centers. Tragically, 6 drowning deaths were recorded at sea—4 in Tipaza, 1 in Tlemcen, and 1 in Mostaganem—along with one fatality at the Koudiat Er-Rassfa dam in the Beni Chaib municipality (Bordj Bounaama district, Tissemsilt province); the victims’ bodies were transported to local hospitals.

Additionally, during the same period, forest and crop fire suppression units intervened to extinguish 15 vegetation fires across various provinces. These included 1 forest fire, 5 brush fires, 2 fruit tree fires, and 7 hay bale fires. The rapid and effective response by our teams successfully extinguished these fires and prevented them from spreading to surrounding vegetation.
