Civil Protection Units intervention results between September 26 and 27, 2026 (within the last 24 hours)
Between September 26 and 27, 2026 (up to 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units carried out 2,915 interventions—averaging one intervention every 29 seconds—in response to distress calls from citizens across various provinces. These operations covered the full spectrum of Civil Protection activities, including responses to traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and general safety operations.
Regarding traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to numerous incidents across the country, conducting 216 interventions. These accidents resulted in five fatalities at the scene and left 248 others with injuries of varying severity; victims received on-site care and were transported by our teams to local hospitals.
Civil Protection units also intervened to extinguish seven urban and miscellaneous fires across several provinces: Algiers (3 fires), Oran (1), El Tarf (1), Khenchela (1), and Batna (1). Our emergency teams successfully brought these fires under control and prevented them from spreading to adjacent areas. Regarding the interventions of the beach lifeguard service over the past 24 hours, Civil Protection lifeguards carried out 99 operations. These efforts resulted in rescuing 41 people from imminent drowning and providing on-site first aid to 56 individuals, while two people were transported to local health centers; no drowning fatalities were recorded.
Additionally, during the same period, the forest and crop fire-fighting units intervened to extinguish 16 vegetation fires across various provinces. These included one forest fire, one scrub fire, four fruit tree fires, six hay bale fires, and four palm tree fires. The rapid and effective response of our teams successfully extinguished these fires and prevented them from spreading to surrounding vegetation. Following heavy rainfall in the provinces of Illizi and Djanet, Civil Protection personnel in Djanet intervened to extract a vehicle stranded by rising water levels on the Tabakat road, rescue a person trapped in sandy mud, and retrieve a vehicle stuck near Wadi Bordj El Haouas due to high water levels within the Djanet municipality; they also carried out operations to pump out accumulated rainwater from neighborhoods and homes in the same municipality. In the municipality of Bordj El Haouas, a vehicle was extracted after becoming stranded by rising water levels near the course of Wadi Ider in the village of Aharir. Meanwhile, Illizi Civil Protection services deployed units along the course of Wadi Illizi in the following areas: Tiknouine, Djibril Neighborhood, the Illizi Bridge, and Tin Tourha.
