Civil Protection Units intervention results between September 27 and 28, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

  Between September 27 and 28, 2026 (up to 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units carried out 3,411 interventions—averaging one every 25 seconds—across various provinces in response to distress calls from citizens. These operations covered the full spectrum of Civil Protection activities, including responses to traffic accidents, domestic incidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and general safety operations.

Regarding traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 178 incidents across the country. These accidents resulted in four fatalities at the scene and injuries to 213 others, with varying degrees of severity. Victims received on-site care and were transported by Civil Protection personnel to local hospitals. The most severe incident occurred in Jijel Province, where two people died after their vehicle veered off the road and plunged from a bridge into a valley (Wadi Jen Jen) along National Road No. 43, in the Emir Abdelkader Municipality, Taher District.

As for beach and recreational safety operations over the past 24 hours, Civil Protection lifeguards conducted 61 interventions. These efforts resulted in the rescue of 19 people from imminent drowning and the provision of on-site first aid to 42 individuals, with no drowning fatalities recorded at sea. During the same period, forest and crop firefighting units intervened to extinguish 23 vegetation fires across various provinces. These included one forest fire, one scrub fire, 13 brush fires, one fruit tree fire, and seven hay-bale fires. The rapid and effective intervention of our teams successfully extinguished these fires and prevented them from spreading to surrounding vegetation.
