Civil Protection Units intervention results between September 20 and 26, 2026 (weekly results)

   Between September 20 and 26, 2026, Civil Protection units carried out 24,645 interventions in response to distress calls from citizens. These operations covered the full spectrum of Civil Protection activities, including responses to traffic accidents, domestic incidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security coverage for various events.

Regarding medical evacuations, units conducted 13,977 interventions, during which Civil Protection personnel provided aid to and transported 13,552 injured and sick individuals to hospitals.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 1,458 incidents involving 2,520 interventions. These accidents resulted in 46 fatalities and injuries to 1,735 people, all of whom received medical aid and were transported to hospital facilities. The highest casualty toll was recorded in the Wilaya of Tipaza, where 45 traffic accidents resulted in four deaths at the scene and injuries to 51 others.

Additionally, Civil Protection units carried out 1,861 interventions to extinguish 1,361 fires—including domestic, industrial, and other types of blazes. The highest numbers of fires were recorded in the Wilayas of Algiers (137), Chlef (62), and Skikda (61). Furthermore, during the same period, our operational units carried out 6,287 interventions, rescuing 308 people in distress and providing emergency medical assistance in 5,109 cases.

Regarding the beach and recreational area lifeguard service, 805 interventions were conducted during this period. These efforts resulted in the rescue of 396 individuals from imminent drowning and the provision of on-site first aid to 389 people, with 20 individuals being transferred to local health centers. Tragically, one drowning fatality occurred at sea, and another in a body of inland water.

Additionally, forest and crop fire-fighting units intervened during the same period to extinguish 91 vegetation fires across various provinces nationwide. These included 5 forest fires, 2 scrub fires, 27 brush fires, 1 crop fire, 22 fruit tree fires, 23 hay bale fires, and 11 palm tree fires. Notably, the rapid and effective response of our teams succeeded in extinguishing these fires and preventing them from spreading to surrounding vegetation.
