These operations spanned the full scope of Civil Protection activities, including responses to traffic accidents, household incidents, medical evacuations, fire suppression, and other emergency security measures.
Regarding traffic accidents, Civil Protection units conducted 202 interventions in response to various incidents across the country. These accidents resulted in 7 fatalities at the scene and left 220 others with injuries of varying severity. The victims received on-site care before being transported by our teams to local hospitals. The highest casualty toll was recorded in the province of Ouargla, where 2 people died following a collision between two motorcycles on National Road No. 49, in the municipality and district of Sidi Khouiled. Civil Protection personnel intervened to extinguish two (2) urban fires in the provinces of Algiers and El Tarf. One of these incidents—a fire that broke out inside a hut in the neighborhood known as “Qashi Lakhdar,” located in the municipality and district of Drean, El Tarf Province—resulted in one person sustaining various burns. The victim received initial care on-site before being transported to a local hospital. Our emergency teams successfully brought these fires under control, preventing them from spreading to adjacent areas.
During the same period, units tasked with combating forest and agricultural fires also intervened to extinguish six (6) vegetation fires across several provinces nationwide. These included one (1) fire involving fruit-bearing trees, two (2) fires involving hay bales, and three (3) fires involving palm trees. The rapid and effective response by our teams ensured that these fires were extinguished and prevented from spreading to the surrounding vegetation.
