Civil Protection Units intervention results between June 4 and 6, 2026 (in the last 48 hours)

Between June 4th and 6th, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 6,737 interventions, averaging one intervention every 25 seconds. These included 3,758 medical evacuations and 1,058 other operations across several provinces nationwide, following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
Regarding traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 402 interventions following numerous accidents across the country. These accidents resulted in 14 fatalities at the scene and injuries to 481 others, ranging in severity. The injured were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals.
It should be noted that the Civil Protection services intervened to extinguish eight urban and other fires in the provinces of Algiers (3 fires), Blida (1 fire), Batna (1 fire), Tizi Ouzou (1 fire), M’Sila (1 fire), and Bechar (1 fire). These fires resulted in the death of a woman and injuries to three people with varying degrees of burns, following a fire that broke out in an apartment on the fourth floor of a building located in the November 1, 1954 neighborhood, in the municipality and district of Djebel Messaad, M’Sila province. Additionally, a child died in a fire that broke out in a two-story house (ground floor + 2 floors) located in the village of Aqoufaf, in the municipality of Ait Yahia, Ain El Hammam district, Tizi Ouzou province. The victims were transferred to the local hospital.
Regarding drownings in water bodies, Civil Protection divers from Tiaret province recovered the body of a 15-year-old boy who drowned in a pond in the area known as Sidi Ouadah, in the municipality of Tagdemt, Mechraa Safa district. Civil Protection divers from Relizane province also recovered the body of a 19-year-old boy who drowned in a wadi (riverbed) in the area known as Douar El Azza, in the municipality of Ouled Sidi Mihoub, Djidiouia district. The bodies of the victims were transferred to local hospitals.
Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service during the same period, they carried out 572 interventions, rescuing 427 people from imminent drowning and providing first aid to 97 people on site. Additionally, 39 people were transferred to local health centers. No deaths were recorded. Furthermore, Civil Protection divers are continuing the search for two drowning victims at sea, one at the Zeralda 1 Family Beach in Algiers Province and the other at the rocky area of Ighlimim Beach in the municipality of Beni Ksila, Bejaia Province.
Likewise, the Forest and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened during the same period to extinguish 88 fires of vegetation, including: 3 forest fires, 1 bush fire, 4 scrubland fires, 48 agricultural crop fires, 10 fruit tree fires, 10 hay bale fires and 12 palm tree fires, across several states of the national territory. It is worth mentioning that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to the rest of the vegetation.
