International walking tour “hike” in the municipality of El Mechrouha, Souk Ahras province

This morning, the Governor of Souk Ahras Province, accompanied by the Director of Human Resources at the General Directorate of Civil Protection, Colonel Oughlis Toufik, the President of the Provincial People’s Assembly, Civil Protection officials, and in the presence of the Director of Civil Protection for Souk Ahras Province, officially launched the international mountain hiking tour, “Rondoni,” organized in the Al-Mazraa Forest in the municipality of Al-Mashrouha, Souk Ahras Province.

This sporting and tourism event witnessed wide participation from various sectors and organizations, in addition to Civil Protection personnel and the Tunisian delegation. Participants traversed forest and nature trails exceeding 10 kilometers in a unique atmosphere characterized by a spirit of challenge, cooperation, and discovery of the region’s abundant natural resources.

This initiative falls within the framework of commemorating the martyrs of professional duty who lost their lives in the line of duty during the forest fire that struck the region in 2012: Sergeant Ben Taleb Mouncef, Corporal Hazaimia Mekki, and Forestry Officer Rouainia Noureddine. It is a tribute to their noble sacrifices and a way to perpetuate their memory.

This event also aims to instill a culture of sports participation, strengthen the spirit of solidarity and cooperation among the various participating units and institutions, and showcase the natural and tourist attractions of Souk Ahras Province.

The event was also attended by the professional partner, Ooredoo, as part of its support for various sports and environmental initiatives, which promotes a culture of community activities, ecotourism, and exchange among participants.

Through organizing this international sporting event, the General Directorate of Civil Protection emphasizes the crucial importance of sports in developing the physical and mental capabilities of its personnel, considering it a fundamental pillar for enhancing operational readiness and improving field performance. Sports also contribute to instilling values ​​of discipline, perseverance, and team spirit, and developing endurance and adaptability to different conditions, enabling civil protection agents to perform their daily tasks efficiently and effectively, especially in the face of various risks and emergency interventions that require a high level of physical fitness and constant readiness.
