Civil Protection Units intervention results between June 20 and 21, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

  

     During the period from June 20 to 21, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 4,272 interventions, averaging one intervention every 20 seconds. These included 2,037 medical evacuations and 791 other operations, across several provinces of the country, following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 196 interventions following numerous accidents across the country. These accidents resulted in 4 fatalities at the scene and 251 injuries of varying severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals.

Civil Protection services in El Bayadh province intervened following a partial collapse of a room’s ceiling in the Nasr neighborhood, Hadj Mechri municipality, Boualem district. The incident resulted in the death of one woman and injuries to one other person. The victims received on-site treatment and were then transported to the local health center.

Civil Protection services in Batna province also intervened following the collapse of a house wall during demolition work in the Tamchit neighborhood, Batna municipality and district. The incident resulted in the death of one person and injuries to one other person. The victims received on-site treatment and were then transported to the local hospital.

Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service during the last 24 hours, they carried out 598 interventions, which allowed for the rescue of 406 people from imminent drowning, as well as providing first aid to 154 people on site, in addition to transferring 35 people to local health centers. Four people drowned at sea off the beaches of the provinces of Tlemcen, Jijel, Oran, and El Tarf. In Tlemcen province: one young man, aged 20, drowned at the beach known as Moscarda (swimming prohibited), in the municipality and district of Marsa Ben M’hidi. In Jijel province: one young man, aged 22, drowned at the beach known as Boualdis (swimming prohibited), in the municipality and district of Jijel. In Oran province: one young man, aged 27, drowned at the beach known as Menar El Halzouni (swimming prohibited). In the municipality of Mers El Kebir and the district of Ain El Turk, El Tarf province: One person, aged 70, drowned in the sea at a location called El Kala El Qadima, in the municipality and district of El Kala. The body was transferred to the morgue of the local hospital.

It should be noted that one drowning death was recorded in a body of water in Tebessa province. The victim was a 21-year-old man, whose body was recovered at a location called Oued Mellaq, in the municipality and district of El Ouenza. The body was transferred to the morgue of the local hospital.

Likewise, the Forest and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened during the same period to extinguish 78 fires of vegetation, including: 4 forest fires, 2 bush fires, 4 scrub fires, 34 agricultural crop fires, 11 fruit tree fires, 14 hay bale fires and 9 palm fires, across several states of the national territory. It is worth mentioning that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to the rest of the vegetation.
