Civil Protection Units intervention results between June 21 and 22, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

  

    During the period from June 21st to 22nd, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 4,242 interventions, averaging one intervention every 20 seconds. These included 2,218 medical evacuations and 740 other operations, across several provinces of the country, following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 178 interventions following numerous accidents across the country. These accidents resulted in 4 fatalities at the scene and injuries to 201 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals.

For your information, the Civil Protection services intervened to extinguish 6 urban and other fires in the provinces of Mostaganem (2 fires), Algiers (1 fire), Tizi Ouzou (1 fire), Blida (1 fire), and Medea (1 fire). These fires resulted in 3 people suffering from shortness of breath. The first incident involved a fire that broke out in an electrical meter cabinet on the ground floor of a five-story building (1st floor + 5th floor) in the Souk El Fellah neighborhood, Ksar El Boukhari municipality and district, Medea province. The second incident involved 2 people suffering from shortness of breath in an apartment on the ground floor of a five-story building (1st floor + 5th floor) in the 200 Housing Estate neighborhood, Bougara municipality and district, Blida province. The third incident involved 1 person suffering from shortness of breath in an apartment on the second floor of a six-story building (1st floor + 6th floor) in the Bouaziz area, Tizi Ouzou municipality and district. Our emergency services provided on-site care to the victims and then transferred them to local health centers. This intervention enabled us to control the fires and prevent their spread to neighboring areas.

Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service over the past 24 hours, they carried out 442 interventions, rescuing 312 people from drowning and providing first aid to 109 people on-site. Additionally, 21 people were transferred to local health centers. One person, aged 60, drowned in the sea in the rocky area known as El Balouta (a prohibited swimming area), in the municipality of El Kennar N’Chifi, El Chekfa district, Jijel province. The body was transferred to the morgue of the local hospital.

It should be noted that one person, aged 42, drowned in a wadi (valley) in the area known as Lambouchir, in the municipality and district of El Kala, El Tarf province. The body was transferred to the morgue of the local hospital.

Likewise, the Forest and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened during the same period to extinguish 113 fires of vegetation, including: 03 forest fires, 04 bush fires, 05 scrub fires, 59 agricultural crop fires, 14 fruit tree fires, 22 hay bale fires and 06 palm fires, across several states of the national territory. It is worth mentioning that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to the rest of the vegetation.
