Civil Protection Units intervention results between July 11 and 12, 2026 (during the last 24 hours)

Between July 11 and 12, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 4,699 interventions (an average of one intervention every 18 seconds), including 1,981 medical evacuations and 702 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 203 incidents across various provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in 8 fatalities at the scene and 244 injuries of varying severity. The victims received on-site medical attention and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious incident occurred in the province of Guelma, where 3 people died and 1 was injured when a truck veered off the road and overturned on the road between Djebala El Khemis and the municipality of Ain Ben Beida, in the district of Bouchegouf.

For your information, the Civil Protection services intervened to extinguish four urban and other fires in the following provinces: Oran (2 fires), Algiers (1 fire), and Relizane (1 fire). The most serious fire occurred in Oran, resulting in injuries to 23 people. The fire started in electrical meters on the ground floor and spread to the upper floors, followed by an explosion on the second floor of a nine-story building (ground floor + 9 floors) in the 3100-unit housing complex, Wadi Tlilat municipality and district. The victims were treated at the scene and then transferred to local health centers. Our emergency services successfully contained these fires and prevented their spread to neighboring areas.

Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service during the last 24 hours, they carried out 1,106 interventions, which resulted in the rescue of 791 people from imminent drowning, the provision of first aid to 264 people on site, and the transfer of 48 people to local health centers. Two (2) people drowned in the sea, one each in the provinces of Mostaganem and Boumerdès. In Mostaganem province, the deceased was a 17-year-old teenager who drowned at Chaibia beach (a prohibited swimming area), in the municipality of Ben Abdelmalek Ramdane, Sidi Lakhdar district. In Boumerdès province, the deceased was a 28-year-old man who drowned at El Nour beach (a permitted swimming area outside of lifeguard hours), in the municipality and district of Boumerdès. Both victims were transferred to the morgues of local hospitals.

It should be noted that a 20-year-old man drowned in a wadi (valley) in the Dider area of ​​Ahrir village, Bordj El Haouas municipality, Djanet province. The victim’s body was transferred to the morgue at the local hospital.

Furthermore, during the same period, the Forestry and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened to extinguish 125 vegetation fires, including: 3 forest fires, 1 brush fire, 15 scrubland fires, 54 crop fires, 21 fruit tree fires, 27 hay bale fires, and 4 palm tree fires, across several provinces of the country. The rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to other vegetation.
