Civil Protection Units intervention results between July 15 and 16, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

During the period from July 15 to 16, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 4,728 interventions, averaging one intervention every 18 seconds. These included 2,175 medical evacuations and 775 other operations, across several provinces of the country, following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 272 interventions following numerous accidents across the country. These accidents resulted in 10 deaths at the scene and injuries to 270 others of varying severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals. The highest toll was recorded in the province of Souk Ahras, with 3 deaths and 2 injuries resulting from 2 traffic accidents.

For your information, the Civil Protection services of Algiers province, supported by the National Training and Intervention Unit, intervened following a fire at the orphanage, the “Assisted Childhood” institution, in the municipality of Mohammadia, El Harrach district. This fire resulted in the death of 11 people and injuries to 19 others (10 suffering from burns, 2 experiencing respiratory distress, and 7 in a state of shock). Significant human and material resources were mobilized, including 16 ambulances, 10 fire trucks, 2 ladder trucks, and 1 team specializing in intervention in difficult terrain. The victims were transferred to hospitals.

Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service over the past 24 hours, they carried out 898 interventions, rescuing 629 people from imminent drowning and providing first aid to 223 people on site. Additionally, 43 people were transferred to local health centers. No drowning deaths were recorded at sea.

It should be noted that a death was recorded in the water reservoirs involving a 21-year-old man who drowned in Wadi Chiffa, Chiffa municipality, Mouzaia district, Blida province. The victim was transferred to Frantz Fanon Hospital in Blida.

Also, during the same period, the Forestry and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened to extinguish 134 vegetation fires, including: 22 forest fires, 12 scrubland fires, 28 brush fires, 28 crop fires, 21 fruit tree fires, 20 hay bale fires, and 3 palm tree fires, across several provinces of the country. It is worth mentioning that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to other vegetation.
