Civil Protection Units’ intervention results between July 14 and 15, 2026 (during the last 24 hours)

During the period from July 14 to 15, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 4,796 interventions (an average of one intervention every 18 seconds), including 2,280 medical evacuations and 806 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
Civil Protection units responded to various calls for assistance from citizens across several provinces of the country. In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 200 incidents across various provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in 9 fatalities at the scene and 278 injuries of varying severity. The victims received on-site medical attention and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious incident occurred in the province of Tamanrasset, where 5 people died and 18 others sustained various injuries following a collision between two passenger buses on National Route 1, in the municipality and district of Tamanrasset.
For your information, the Civil Protection services intervened to extinguish three separate urban fires in the provinces of Oum El Bouaghi, Ain Temouchent, and Annaba. These fires resulted in four people suffering from respiratory distress in Oum El Bouaghi, two people with breathing difficulties in Annaba, and three people with burns in Ain Temouchent. The victims received on-site treatment and were then transferred to local health centers. Our emergency services successfully contained these fires and prevented their spread to neighboring areas.
Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service during the last 24 hours, they carried out 864 interventions, which allowed for the rescue of 589 people from imminent drowning, as well as providing first aid to 230 people on site, in addition to transferring 41 people to local health centers. Three people drowned in the sea, two in the province of Algiers and one in the province of Jijel. In the province of Algiers: the first case involved a 17-year-old teenager who drowned at the rocky beach called El Mahjar (a prohibited swimming area), in the municipality of El Marsa, Dar El Beida district. The second case involved a 30-year-old man who drowned at Sidi Fredj beach, in the municipality of Staoueli, Zeralda district. In the province of Jijel: the first case involved a 60-year-old man who drowned at the rocky beach called Aftis (a prohibited swimming area), in the municipality and district of [unclear]. In El Aouana, the victims were transferred to the morgues of local hospitals.
Similarly, the Forestry and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened during the same period to extinguish 139 vegetation fires, including: 29 forest fires, 7 bush fires, 24 scrubland fires, 31 crop fires, 15 fruit tree fires, 27 hay bale fires, and 6 palm tree fires, across several provinces of the country. It is worth noting that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to other vegetation.
