The outcome of the Civil Protection Units’ intervention between August 29 and 30, 2026 (during the last 24 hours)

Between August 29th and 30th, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 3,923 interventions, averaging one intervention every 22 seconds. These included 1,889 medical evacuations and 554 other operations across several provinces nationwide, following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 177 interventions following numerous accidents across the country. These accidents resulted in 4 fatalities at the scene and injuries to 190 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims received on-site medical treatment and were then transported by our services to local hospitals.

Civil Protection services intervened to extinguish two separate urban fires in the provinces of Algiers and Annaba. These fires resulted in two women suffering from smoke inhalation and one person sustaining burns. The first fire occurred in a second-floor apartment of a five-story building in the municipality of Reghaïa, Rouiba district, Algiers province. The victims received necessary first aid and were transported to the local health center.

Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service during the last 24 hours, they carried out 943 interventions, which resulted in the rescue of 667 people from imminent drowning, as well as the provision of first aid to 254 people on site. Additionally, 20 people were transferred to local health centers. Two drowning deaths were recorded in the sea off the coast of Skikda Province. The first case involved a 7-year-old child who drowned at El Remila 2 Beach (a red flag sign indicating no swimming) in El Marsa Municipality, Ben Azzouz District. The second case involved a 40-year-old man who drowned in a rocky area near El Remila 3 Beach (also a no-swimming zone) in El Marsa Municipality, Ben Azzouz District. Both victims were transferred to the El Marsa polyclinic.

Likewise, the Forest and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened during the same period to extinguish 65 fires of vegetation, including: 33 forest fires, 1 bush fire, 11 scrub fires, 6 fruit tree fires, 8 hay belt fires and 6 palm fires, across several states of the national territory. It is worth mentioning that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to the rest of the vegetation.
