Civil Protection Units intervention results between August 28 and 29, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

   During the period from August 28 to 29, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 4,348 interventions, averaging one intervention every 20 seconds. These included 1,836 medical evacuations and 530 other operations, across several provinces of the country, following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 174 interventions following numerous accidents across the country. These accidents resulted in 11 fatalities at the scene and injuries to 281 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims received on-site treatment and were then transported by our services to local hospitals.

For your information, Civil Protection personnel intervened to extinguish three separate urban fires in the provinces of Algiers (2 fires) and Annaba (1 fire). These fires resulted in two people suffering from respiratory distress following a fire involving electrical meters at the entrance of a residential building (1st floor + 7th floor) located in the municipality and district of Annaba. The two victims were treated at the scene and then transferred to the local hospital. Our emergency services successfully contained these fires and prevented their spread to neighboring areas.

Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service over the past 24 hours, they carried out 1,400 interventions, rescuing 1,072 people from drowning and providing first aid to 279 people on site. Additionally, 49 people were transferred to local health centers. No drowning deaths were recorded.

Likewise, the Forest and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened during the same period to extinguish 123 fires of vegetation, including: 56 forest fires, 5 bush fires, 39 scrubland fires, 1 agricultural crop fire, 9 fruit tree fires, 12 hay bale fires and 1 palm tree fire, across several states of the national territory. It is worth mentioning that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to the rest of the vegetation.
