The outcome of the Civil Protection Units’ intervention between September 5 and 6, 2026 (during the last 24 hours)
During the period from September 5th to 6th, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 3,432 interventions (an average of one intervention every 25 seconds), including 1,954 medical evacuations and 409 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
Civil Protection units responded to a wide range of calls for assistance from citizens across several provinces of the country. In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 202 interventions following numerous accidents across various provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in the deaths of 8 people at the scene and injuries to 238 others, ranging in severity. The victims received on-site medical attention and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious incident occurred in Saïda province, where 6 people died and 1 was injured in a collision between a car and a truck on Provincial Road No. 9, in the area known as “Douar Ouled Fernane,” in the municipality and district of El Hassasna.
Civil Protection services intervened to extinguish four separate urban fires in the provinces of Algiers, Djelfa, Mascara, and Blida. These fires resulted in one person sustaining burns in Algiers province, one person suffering second-degree burns and three others experiencing shock in Djelfa province, four people with burns in Mascara province, and two people with minor burns and one person suffering from respiratory distress in Blida province. The necessary first aid was administered to the victims, who were then transported to local health facilities. Our emergency services successfully contained these fires and prevented their spread to neighboring areas.
Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service during the last 24 hours, they carried out 636 interventions, rescuing 453 people from drowning and providing first aid to 162 people on site. Additionally, 21 people were transferred to local health centers. One young man, aged 24, died in Algiers province after falling from a jet ski approximately 500 meters from the beach called “Sirkouf,” in the municipality of Ain Taya, Rouiba district. The victim’s body was transferred to the local hospital.
Furthermore, the Forest and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened during the same period to extinguish 22 vegetation fires, including: 3 forest fires, 3 scrubland fires, 3 brush fires, 3 orchard fires, and 10 hay bale fires, across several provinces of the country. It is worth noting that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed these fires to be extinguished and prevented from spreading to other vegetation.
Following the rescue of a 10-year-old child, after he fell into a dry artesian well, estimated to be about 80 meters deep and about 40 centimeters in diameter, in the place called Al-Rukn village, Al-Ghasoul municipality, Brezina district, El Bayadh province, where the victim was found dead and brought out, with significant material and human resources being deployed in this intervention, this operation was carried out under the leadership of the Director General of Civil Protection, Colonel Boualem Boughelouf.
