Civil Protection Units intervention results between September 22 and 23, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

  Between September 22 and 23, 2026 (up to 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units carried out 3,059 interventions—averaging one every 28 seconds—across various provinces in response to distress calls from citizens. These operations covered the full spectrum of Civil Protection activities, including responses to traffic accidents, domestic incidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and general safety operations.

Regarding traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 206 incidents across the country. These accidents resulted in six fatalities at the scene and left 214 others with injuries of varying severity; victims received on-site care and were subsequently transported by our teams to local hospitals.

Additionally, Civil Protection personnel in Mila Province intervened to extinguish a fire that broke out in an apartment within a four-story building (ground floor plus three upper floors) in the “Thalkan” neighborhood (Oued Seggan Municipality, Teleghma District). One person suffered from respiratory distress due to the fire; the victim received on-site treatment before being transferred to the local hospital. Our emergency teams successfully brought the fire under control and prevented it from spreading to the rest of the building. Regarding the interventions of the beach and recreation area lifeguard units over the past 24 hours, lifeguards carried out 108 operations. These efforts resulted in rescuing 43 people from imminent drowning and providing on-site first aid to 65 individuals, with no drowning fatalities recorded.

Additionally, during the same period, forest and crop fire-fighting teams intervened to extinguish 12 vegetation fires across various provinces. These included one forest fire, one scrub fire, two brush fires, one fruit tree fire, four hay bale fires, and three palm tree fires. The rapid and effective intervention of our units successfully extinguished these fires and prevented them from spreading to surrounding vegetation.

Regarding the heavy rainfall that affected the provinces of Tébessa, Ouled Djellal, El M’Ghair, and Ouargla, Civil Protection personnel carried out operations to pump out accumulated rainwater from homes and neighborhoods in Ouled Djellal, El M’Ghair, and Ouargla. Incidents involving structural damage were also recorded, specifically the collapse of an exterior wall at a house in the “Al-Qasr Al-Atiq” area and the partial collapse of a roof in the “Beni Sissine” neighborhood of Ouargla municipality; no human casualties were reported.
