Civil Protection Units intervention results between September 13 and 19, 2026 (weekly results)

  Between September 13 and 19, 2026, Civil Protection units carried out 23,861 interventions in response to distress calls from citizens. These operations covered a wide range of Civil Protection activities, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security coverage for various events.

Regarding medical evacuations, our units conducted 13,681 interventions, during which Civil Protection personnel provided aid to and evacuated 13,442 injured and sick individuals to hospitals.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 1,500 incidents involving 2,670 interventions. These accidents resulted in 46 fatalities and 1,872 injuries; the injured received first aid and were transported to medical facilities. The highest casualty figures were recorded in the Wilaya of Algiers, where 127 traffic accidents resulted in four deaths at the scene and 128 injuries.

Civil Protection units also carried out 1,794 interventions to extinguish 1,281 fires—including domestic, industrial, and other types of fires. The highest numbers of incidents were recorded in the Wilayas of Algiers (179 fires), Blida (73 fires), and Skikda (47 fires).

Additionally, during the same period, our units conducted 5,716 interventions involving miscellaneous operations, rescuing 403 people in distress and providing coverage for 4,715 emergency assistance operations. Regarding the interventions of the beach and recreation area lifeguard units during the same period, the service carried out 1,867 interventions. These efforts resulted in rescuing 1,168 people from imminent drowning and providing on-site first aid to 661 individuals, while 35 people were transferred to local health centers. Tragically, six drowning deaths were recorded at sea, and four occurred in bodies of inland water.

Additionally, forest and crop fire-fighting units intervened during the same period to extinguish 57 vegetation fires across various provinces nationwide. These included 3 forest fires, 3 scrub fires, 6 brush fires, 1 crop fire, 10 fruit tree fires, 20 hay bale fires, and 14 palm tree fires. Notably, the rapid and effective response by our teams succeeded in extinguishing these fires and preventing them from spreading to surrounding vegetation.
