Civil Protection Units intervention results between August 23 and 29, 2026 (weekly results)

Between August 23 and 29, 2026, Civil Protection units recorded 29,809 interventions following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and providing security coverage for various events.
Regarding medical evacuations, our units carried out 15,188 interventions, during which 14,938 injured and sick individuals were treated and transported to hospitals by Civil Protection personnel.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 2,563 incidents involving 1,451 traffic accidents, resulting in 45 deaths and 1,830 injuries. The injured were treated and transported to hospitals. The highest number of casualties was recorded in Tiaret province, with 6 deaths at the scene and 33 injuries in 18 traffic accidents.
Civil Protection units also responded to 5,889 incidents, extinguishing 3,861 fires, including residential, industrial, and other types of fires. The most significant fires were recorded in Setif province (277 fires), Algiers province (244 fires), and Skikda province (191 fires).
Furthermore, during the same period, our units carried out 6,169 interventions across various operations, rescuing 410 people in danger and providing 5,098 emergency medical services.
Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service during the same period, it carried out 7,481 interventions, enabling the rescue of 5,543 people from imminent drowning, as well as providing first aid to 1,730 people on site, in addition to transferring 210 people to local health centers. Seven drowning deaths were recorded at sea, while no drowning deaths were recorded in any of the water bodies.
Similarly, the Forest and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened during the same period to extinguish 761 vegetation fires, including 244 forest fires, 103 bush fires, 144 scrubland fires, 4 crop fires, 127 fruit tree fires, 106 hay bale fires, and 33 palm tree fires, across several provinces of the country. It is worth noting that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed for the extinguishing of these fires and prevented their spread to other vegetation.
