Civil Protection Units intervention results between August 9 and 15, 2026 (weekly results)

  Between August 9th and 15th, 2026, Civil Protection units recorded 29,028 interventions following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and providing security coverage for various events.

Regarding medical evacuations, our units carried out 16,248 interventions, during which 15,817 injured and ill individuals were treated and transported to hospitals by Civil Protection personnel.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 2,977 incidents involving 1,651 traffic accidents, resulting in 32 deaths and 2,100 injuries. The injured were treated and transported to hospitals. The highest number of casualties was recorded in the province of Ain Temouchent, with 3 deaths at the scene and 37 injuries in 29 traffic accidents.

Civil Protection units also carried out 3,932 interventions, extinguishing 2,655 fires, including residential, industrial, and other types of fires. The most significant fires were recorded in the provinces of Algiers (274 fires), Blida (116 fires), and Chlef (109 fires).

Furthermore, during the same period, our units carried out 5,871 interventions across various operations, rescuing 450 people in danger and providing 4,900 emergency medical services.

Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service during the same period, it carried out 8,014 interventions, enabling the rescue of 5,605 people from imminent drowning, as well as providing first aid to 1,982 people on site, in addition to transferring 414 people to local health centers. Eleven people drowned at sea, and three drowned in water bodies.

Similarly, the Forest and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened during the same period to extinguish 271 vegetation fires, including 46 forest fires, 28 scrubland fires, 51 brush fires, 9 crop fires, 58 fruit tree fires, 60 hay bale fires, and 19 palm tree fires, across several provinces of the country. It is worth noting that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to other vegetation.
