Civil Protection Units intervention results between May 24 and 30, 2026 (weekly results)

  

Between May 24 and 30, 2026, Civil Protection units recorded 23,743 interventions following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and providing security coverage for various events.

Regarding medical evacuations, our units carried out 13,071 interventions, during which 12,745 injured and sick individuals were treated and transported to hospitals by Civil Protection personnel.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 3,215 interventions for 1,772 traffic accidents, resulting in 49 deaths and 2,214 injuries. The injured were treated and transported to hospitals. The highest toll was recorded in the province of Sidi Bel Abbès, with 4 deaths at the scene and 22 injuries in 22 traffic accidents.

Civil Protection units also carried out 2,196 interventions, extinguishing 1,588 fires, including residential, industrial, and other types of fires. The most significant fires were recorded in the provinces of Algiers (91 fires), Setif (89 fires), and Annaba (73 fires).

In addition, during the same period, our units carried out 5,261 interventions across various operations, rescuing 459 people in danger and providing 4,345 emergency medical services.

For your information, the Coast Guard and Recreation Unit was established on June 1, 2026, and carried out 12 interventions, rescuing 3 people from drowning and certain death, providing first aid to 4 people, and transferring 5 people to local health centers. No drowning deaths were recorded.

Also, during the same period, the Forest and Agricultural Firefighting Unit intervened to extinguish 38 vegetation fires, including 1 forest fire, 3 brush fires, 17 agricultural fires, 5 fruit tree fires, 6 hay bale fires, and 6 palm tree fires, across several provinces of the country. It is worth noting that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to other vegetation.
