Civil Protection Units intervention results between May 5 and 6, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

  

 Between May 5th and 6th, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 2,947 interventions (an average of one intervention every 29 seconds), including 1,994 medical evacuations and 483 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

Civil Protection units responded to a wide range of calls for assistance from citizens across several provinces of the country. In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 185 incidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in one fatality at the scene and injuries to 198 others, ranging in severity. The victims received on-site medical attention and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious accident occurred in the province of Tamanrasset, where one person died and another sustained injuries when a vehicle veered off the road and overturned near the service station known as Lamsili, in the municipality and district of Tamanrasset.

For your information, the Civil Protection services intervened to extinguish 04 different urban fires in the provinces of Algiers, Ain Defla, Oran and Mila. These fires caused 01 person to suffer from shortness of breath, as a result of a fire that broke out inside an apartment located on the fourth floor of a building in the 300 housing complex, Ain Defla municipality and district, and also 01 person to suffer second and third degree burns, as a result of a fire involving two cars in a garage in the Azaba neighborhood, Ain El Tin municipality, Mila district. The victims were treated at the scene and then transferred to local hospitals. Our emergency services’ intervention enabled us to control these fires and prevent their spread to other neighboring areas.
