Civil Protection Units intervention results between October 11 and 12, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

Between October 11 and 12, 2026 (up to 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units carried out 3,465 interventions—averaging one intervention every 25 seconds—across various provinces in response to distress calls from citizens. These operations covered the full spectrum of Civil Protection activities, including responses to traffic accidents, domestic incidents, medical evacuations, and firefighting, as well as security-related operations. Regarding traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 192 interventions following various incidents recorded across the country’s provinces. These accidents resulted in five fatalities at the scene and injuries to 212 others, with varying degrees of severity; victims received on-site care and were transported by our teams to local hospitals. The highest casualty toll was recorded in Djelfa Province, where two people died and four others were injured after a vehicle veered off the road and overturned on Provincial Road No. 108 at a location known as “Al-Zarifa” (in the municipality and district of Faid El Botma).

Additionally, during the same period, the forest and crop firefighting units intervened to extinguish six vegetation fires across various provinces. These included one scrub fire, one fruit tree fire, two hay bale fires, and two palm tree fires. The rapid and effective intervention of our teams successfully extinguished these fires and prevented them from spreading to surrounding vegetation.

Regarding Civil Protection interventions following thunderstorms that affected southwestern provinces—including Béchar, Béni Abbès, and Naâma—our emergency teams intervened in Naâma Province to rescue a person trapped in a vehicle due to rising rainwater levels at a location known as “Wadi Al-Daqiq” (in the municipality of Djeniene Bourzeg). Emergency care was provided to a victim on-site before their transfer to the local hospital. Additionally, a truck stranded by rising rainwater was recovered at the location known as Oued Terkount in the Ain Sefra municipality. Operations were also carried out to drain accumulated rainwater from the “20-Housing Unit” neighborhood in Naama municipality, as well as from various public and private facilities across the municipalities of El Ouata, Igli, Ouled Khoudir, Beni Abbes, Beni Ounif, and Béchar.
