Civil Protection Units intervention results between October 3 and 4, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

Between October 3 and October 4, 2026 (up to 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units carried out 3,042 interventions—averaging one intervention every 28 seconds—across various provinces following distress calls from citizens. These operations covered the full spectrum of Civil Protection activities, including responses to traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, security operations, and incidents related to adverse weather conditions.

Regarding traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 195 incidents across the country. These accidents resulted in 9 fatalities at the scene and injuries to 237 others, with varying degrees of severity. Victims received on-site care and were transported by our teams to local hospitals. The highest casualty tolls were recorded in the provinces of Tlemcen and Sétif. In Tlemcen, a collision between two vehicles on National Road No. 98—at a location known as “El Marazqa” in the municipality and district of Honaine—resulted in two deaths and one injury. In Sétif, a collision between two vehicles on the bypass road—at a location known as “El Hachichiya” in the municipality of Mezloug, district of Ain Arnat—also resulted in two deaths and one injury. During the same period, forest and crop firefighting units intervened to extinguish 25 vegetation fires across various provinces. These included 3 forest fires, 1 scrub fire, 8 brush fires, 3 fruit tree fires, 7 hay bale fires, and 3 palm tree fires. The rapid and effective intervention of our teams successfully extinguished these fires and prevented them from spreading to surrounding vegetation.

Regarding the heavy rainfall experienced over the past 24 hours in the provinces of Tamanrasset, Illizi, Sidi Bel Abbès, Tlemcen, Tizi Ouzou, Sétif, Mila, Oum El Bouaghi, Constantine, Souk Ahras, and Guelma, Civil Protection personnel intervened to recover the body of a 28-year-old man. He had been swept away by the waters of Oued Bousalah at a location known as “El Djalailia” in the municipality of El Bellaa (Sétif Province) and was found deceased at “Mechta El Aazla” in the municipality of Derradji Bousalah (Bouhatem District, Mila Province); the victim’s body was transported to the Ferdjioua Hospital. Additionally, our teams carried out operations to pump out accumulated rainwater from homes and neighborhoods in the provinces of Sidi Bel Abbès, Tlemcen, Oum El Bouaghi, and Constantine.
