Civil Protection Units intervention results from August 30 to September 5, 2026 (weekly results)

  Between August 30 and September 5, 2026, Civil Protection units recorded 26,002 interventions following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and providing security coverage for various events.

Regarding medical evacuations, our units carried out 14,725 interventions, during which 14,392 injured and sick individuals were treated and transported to hospitals by Civil Protection personnel.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 2,687 incidents involving 1,447 traffic accidents, resulting in 52 deaths and 1,908 injuries. The injured were treated and transported to hospitals. The highest number of casualties was recorded in Saïda province, with 6 deaths at the scene and 18 injuries in 13 separate accidents.

Civil Protection units also responded to 3,016 incidents, extinguishing 2,109 fires, including residential, industrial, and other types of fires. The most significant fires were recorded in Algiers province (198 fires), Sétif (110 fires), and Blida (93 fires).

Furthermore, during the same period, our units carried out 5,574 interventions across various operations, rescuing 313 people in danger and providing 4,579 emergency medical services.

Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service during the same period, it carried out 4,724 interventions, enabling the rescue of 3,299 people from imminent drowning, as well as providing first aid to 1,248 people on site. Additionally, 176 people were transferred to local health centers. Two (2) drowning deaths were recorded at sea, and five (5) drownings were recorded in water bodies.

Furthermore, the Forest and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened during the same period to extinguish 186 vegetation fires, including 58 forest fires, 15 scrubland fires, 19 brush fires, two (2) crop fires, 26 fruit tree fires, 45 hay bale fires, and 21 palm tree fires, across several provinces of the country. It is worth noting that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed for the extinguishing of these fires and prevented their spread to other vegetation.
