Civil Protection Units intervention results between June 6 and 7, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

Between June 6th and 7th, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 3,347 interventions (an average of one intervention every 25 seconds), including 1,852 medical evacuations and 411 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
Civil Protection units responded to a wide range of calls for assistance from citizens across several provinces of the country. In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 199 incidents across various provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in 10 fatalities at the scene and injuries to 242 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims received on-site medical attention and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious incident occurred in Saïda Province, where 3 people died and 3 others were injured in a collision between two vehicles on National Route 92, in the area known as Dhaya Zeraqt, Aïn Skhouna Municipality, El Hassasna District. Additionally, in Chlef Province, two people were killed when they were struck by a truck on the East-West Highway in the area known as El Hassania, Chlef Municipality and District.
It should be noted that the Civil Protection services intervened to extinguish five separate urban fires in the provinces of Bejaia (one fire), Annaba (one fire), Tebessa (one fire), Oran (one fire), and Souk Ahras (one fire). These fires resulted in one injury to one person following a fire in an apartment in a two-story building in the Ben Sedka neighborhood, Bejaia municipality and district. Additionally, six people suffered from respiratory distress following a fire in an apartment in a four-story building in the 252-unit housing complex, Souk Ahras municipality and district. The victims were treated at the scene and then transferred to local health centers. Our emergency services’ intervention enabled us to control these fires and prevent their spread to neighboring areas.
Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service during the last 24 hours, they carried out 262 interventions, which resulted in the rescue of 197 people from imminent drowning, as well as providing first aid to 53 people on site, in addition to transferring 11 people to local health centers. Two (2) drowning deaths were recorded at beaches where swimming is prohibited in the province of Oran. The first case involved a 15-year-old teenager who drowned at a rocky area in a prohibited swimming area, in the municipality and district of Bir El Djir. The second case involved a 20-year-old man who drowned at a prohibited swimming area in the old port, in the municipality of Mers El Kebir, district of Ain El Turk. The bodies of the victims were transferred to the morgues of local hospitals by Civil Protection personnel.
Likewise, the Forest and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened during the same period to extinguish 48 fires of vegetation, including: 1 bush fire, 1 scrub fire, 30 agricultural crop fires, 5 fruit tree fires, 4 hay bale fires and 5 palm fires, across several states of the national territory. It is worth mentioning that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to the rest of the vegetation.
