These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 244 interventions following numerous accidents across the country. These accidents resulted in 3 fatalities at the scene and injuries to 328 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims received on-site treatment and were then transported by our services to local hospitals.
For the record, the Civil Protection services intervened to extinguish five urban and other fires in the provinces of Algiers (two fires), Batna (one fire), Skikda (one fire), and Ain Defla (one fire), without any casualties. Our emergency response enabled us to control these fires and prevent their spread to neighboring areas. Furthermore, Civil Protection units intervened in the province of Tiaret following heavy rainfall in the municipality of Sougueur. We recorded the removal of rainwater from seven houses (five houses in the neighborhood known as “Marhala Al Khamisa Loumani Mekki” and two houses in the Belghouini neighborhood), in addition to freeing two vehicles that were stuck in the floodwaters of Wadi Lahnech on Provincial Road No. 3, which connects the municipalities of Sougueur and Sidi Abdelghani. No casualties were reported.
Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service during the last 24 hours, they carried out 139 interventions, which resulted in the rescue of 101 people from imminent drowning, as well as providing first aid to 29 people on site, in addition to transferring 9 people to local health centers. Two (2) drowning deaths were recorded at beaches where swimming is prohibited in the province of Bejaia. The first case involved a 19-year-old youth who drowned at a prohibited beach in a rocky area called Oued Dass, in the municipality of Todja, El Kseur district. The second case also involved a 19-year-old youth who drowned at the same beach and location. The bodies of the victims were transferred to the morgues of local hospitals by Civil Protection personnel.
Likewise, the Forest and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened during the same period to extinguish 35 fires of vegetation, including: 21 fires of agricultural crops, 3 fires of fruit trees, 8 fires of hay bales and 3 fires of palm trees, at the level of several states of the national territory. It is worth mentioning that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed for the extinguishing of these fires and the prevention of their spread to the rest of the vegetation.
