Civil Protection Units intervention results between June 23 and 24, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

Between June 23 and 24, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 3,575 interventions (an average of one intervention every 24 seconds), including 2,106 medical evacuations and 706 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 179 incidents across various provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in 4 fatalities at the scene and 252 injuries of varying severity. The victims received on-site medical attention and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious incident occurred in the province of Ouled Djellal, where 1 person died and 2 others sustained injuries in a collision between a car and a truck on Provincial Road No. 4, in the municipality of Besbes, Sidi Khaled district.
For your information, the Civil Protection services intervened to extinguish two urban fires in the provinces of Algiers and Annaba. These fires resulted in 36 people suffering from respiratory distress. The first fire broke out in an electrical meter box in a residential building (1st floor + 12th floor) in the 1950-unit housing complex in the municipality of Berrahal, Chétaïbi district, Annaba province. The victims received first aid at the scene and were then transferred to the local health center. Our emergency services successfully contained both fires and prevented their spread to neighboring areas.
Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service over the past 24 hours, they carried out 487 interventions, rescuing 334 people from drowning and providing first aid to 131 people at the scene. Additionally, 22 people were transferred to local health centers. No fatalities were reported.
Likewise, the Forest and Agricultural Crops Firefighting Service intervened during the same period to extinguish 73 vegetation fires, including: 3 forest fires, 3 bush fires, 5 scrub fires, 46 agricultural crop fires, 6 fruit tree fires, 9 hay belt fires, and 1 palm tree fire, across several states of the national territory. It is worth mentioning that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to the rest of the vegetation.
