Civil Protection Units intervention results between July 12 and 18, 2026 (weekly results)

Between July 12 and 18, 2026, Civil Protection units recorded 36,271 interventions following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and providing security coverage for various events.
Regarding medical evacuations, our units carried out 16,169 interventions, during which 15,637 injured and sick individuals were treated and transported to hospitals by Civil Protection personnel.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 3,056 interventions for 2,582 traffic accidents, resulting in 57 deaths and 2,183 injuries. The injured were treated and transported to hospitals. The highest toll was recorded in the province of Mascara, with 6 deaths at the scene and 31 injuries in 30 traffic accidents.
Civil Protection units also carried out 8,639 interventions, extinguishing 5,702 fires, including residential, industrial, and other types of fires. The most significant fires were recorded in the provinces of Setif (349 fires), Constantine (343 fires), and Algiers (324 fires).
In addition, during the same period, our units carried out 8,407 interventions in various operations, rescuing 437 people in danger and providing 7,200 emergency medical services.
Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service during the same period, it carried out 7,379 interventions, enabling the rescue of 5,147 people from imminent drowning, as well as providing first aid to 1,827 people on site. Additionally, 391 people were transferred to local health centers. Ten people drowned at sea, and seven drowned in other bodies of water.
Furthermore, the Forest and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened during the same period to extinguish 1,100 vegetation fires, including 216 forest fires, 47 scrubland fires, 232 brush fires, 239 crop fires, 142 fruit tree fires, 192 hay bale fires, and 32 palm tree fires, across several provinces nationwide. It is worth noting that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to other vegetation.
