Press Release

Following the forest fires in the municipality of Seraidi, Annaba Province, which were exacerbated by exceptional weather conditions, including record-breaking high temperatures and strong winds, all available human and material resources of the Civil Protection were mobilized. This was done in close coordination with local authorities and with the participation of units from the People’s National Army and various security forces, in order to control the situation and protect citizens and their property.

In this context, the relevant authorities initiated precautionary measures to evacuate residents of the threatened areas. Patients at the Seraidi hospital were also transferred to safe locations, under well-organized and proactive planning aimed at ensuring the safety of individuals and providing them with the necessary care.

Firefighting operations continue uninterrupted, with intensive intervention by ground firefighting teams, supported by aerial resources. These efforts are being reinforced with all available operational capabilities to contain the flames, limit their spread, and protect lives, property, and forest resources.

The General Directorate of Civil Protection confirms that all mobilized units are working in full coordination and under continuous field monitoring, with real-time assessment of the evolving situation and the implementation of all necessary measures to ensure the highest levels of effectiveness and responsiveness.

The General Directorate of Civil Protection urges all citizens to remain calm and vigilant, strictly adhere to the instructions of public authorities, and avoid going to affected areas or approaching fire sites for their own safety. It also advises relying solely on official statements as the source of information and avoiding the spread of rumors and unverified news.
