A national study forum for civil protection directors on preparations for the installation and launch of the preventive and operational apparatus for the 2026 summer season, combating forest fires, agricultural crops and guarding beaches
As part of the final preparations for the installation and launch of the preventive and operational system for the 2026 summer season, particularly concerning forest fire prevention, agricultural fires, and the beach and recreation security system, the General Directorate of Civil Protection is organizing a national training seminar for Civil Protection directors from across the country in the province of Ain Temouchent on May 3, 2026. The seminar will be held under the supervision of the Director General of Civil Protection, Colonel Boualem Boughlaf, and the Governor of Ain Temouchent, with the participation of central officials from the General Directorate of Civil Protection.
This seminar aims to strengthen national preparedness to address the various risks associated with the summer season by unifying operational approaches and updating coordination mechanisms between different sectors, thus ensuring an effective and rapid response to all incidents related to the summer season. This meeting will feature the presentation of the 2026 preventive and operational plan, based on an in-depth analysis of the 2025 results. The presentation will highlight key findings, draw lessons, and identify needs for the current year, grounded in a proactive approach focused on improving operational coverage and strengthening intervention capabilities.
The meeting program will also include:
* A presentation of the national protocol for responding to forest fires, in accordance with the latest standards adopted in risk management.
* A presentation and demonstration of the operational digital platforms for management and coordination, particularly those related to monitoring field interventions for forest fires and the beach patrol system, and the real-time exchange of information.
* An evaluation of the beach patrol and recreation system, along with a review of new measures aimed at ensuring the safety of beachgoers and reducing drowning incidents.
During this forum, in-depth technical discussions will be held among Civil Protection directors to exchange field experiences and propose practical solutions that will enhance operational performance and improve the quality of public services provided.
On the sidelines of this national event, a national awareness and prevention caravan will be launched to address risks associated with the summer season, under the slogan “A Summer Without Accidents… Through Continuous Awareness.” This initiative is part of the General Directorate of Civil Protection’s annual prevention program.
This national campaign, which begins on May 1, 2026, is part of a comprehensive national strategy that prioritizes prevention as a key strategy for reducing risks. It will cover a range of priority topics, including: forest and agricultural fires and how to prevent them; the dangers of swimming in the sea, especially at unguarded beaches and in water bodies; scorpion stings; traffic accidents; and food poisoning.
This campaign will be implemented through field caravans, open houses, community outreach campaigns, and awareness workshops targeting various segments of society, particularly youth and children, with the participation of civil society organizations and media outlets to ensure the widespread dissemination of awareness messages.
The General Directorate of Civil Protection will also utilize modern communication methods, including social media platforms, to promote a culture of prevention and instill safe behaviors among citizens.
Through this forum and this national campaign, the General Directorate of Civil Protection reaffirms its ongoing commitment to protecting lives and property and enhancing its operational readiness, based on a modern approach that emphasizes proactivity, coordination, and efficient intervention.
