Civil Protection Units intervention results between April 1 and 2, 2026 (during the last 24 hours)

   

During the period from April 1st to 2nd, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 2,781 interventions (an average of one intervention every 31 seconds), including 1,818 medical evacuations and 452 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, security operations, and weather-related incidents.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 175 incidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in the deaths of four people at the scene and injuries to 180 others, some of whom sustained serious wounds. The victims received on-site medical attention and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious incident occurred in the province of M’Sila, where three children died and five others were injured when a car veered off the road and crashed into a concrete barrier on National Route 70 in the area known as Ain Ghazal, in the municipality and district of Ben Srour.

Civil Protection services intervened to provide first aid to 32 people suffering from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning from heating appliances and water heaters in their homes across several provinces. The victims were treated at the scene and then transferred to local hospitals. Meanwhile, two people, aged 25 and 26, died in Setif province from carbon monoxide poisoning caused by a heater in the Bir Souissi-Douar El Gharbi area of ​​Ouled Saber municipality, Guellal district. Their bodies were taken to the morgue at Setif Hospital.

For your information, Civil Protection units intervened to extinguish two fires, one urban and one industrial, in the provinces of Tipaza and M’Sila. These fires resulted in injuries to seven people, who suffered burns of varying degrees. The first fire broke out on the ground floor of a two-story building (floor + 1) in the 17 Juin neighborhood, in the municipality and district of Boussaâda, M’Sila province. The victims received on-site treatment and were then transferred to the local hospital. Our services’ intervention enabled us to control both fires and prevent their spread to neighboring areas.

Regarding the interventions of the Civil Protection services during the last 24 hours related to the weather fluctuations witnessed in several provinces, including: Medea, Bouira, Khenchela, Chlef, Souk Ahras, Setif, Mila and Illizi, our services removed 14 vehicles with 39 people on board in dangerous situations, without recording any human losses. In addition, 22 sheep, including 6 horses, were rescued in the municipality of Chlef. As for the road network, it remains cut off at the summit of Assoul, Tizi N’Koulen, Fadj Tirourda, Fadj Chellata, and Tirkbabine in the provinces of Bouira and Tizi Ouzou due to snow accumulation. Also, the provincial road No. 110 linking Koléa and Ben Hamdane and the national road No. 64 linking the municipalities of Bougara and El Amaria were closed due to snow accumulation in the province of Blida. As for the province of Illizi, the national road No. 54 in the municipality of Bordj Omar Driss and the Belkour area is closed due to the high water level of the Tamzrouft River.
