Civil Protection Units intervention results between April 2 and 4, 2026 (during the last 48 hours)

   

Between April 2nd and 4th, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 5,488 interventions (an average of one intervention every 31 seconds), including 3,410 medical evacuations and 850 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

Civil Protection units responded to a wide range of calls for assistance from citizens across several provinces of the country. In the context of traffic accidents, the Civil Protection units carried out 330 interventions following several accidents recorded across several provinces of the country, resulting in the death of 9 people at the scene of the accidents and the injury of 404 others with various injuries of varying severity. The victims were cared for at the scene of the accidents and transferred by our services to local hospitals. The heaviest toll was recorded in the province of Mostaganem with the death of 3 people and the injury of 14 others with various injuries as a result of three traffic accidents. The first accident was the death of (2) people as a result of a collision between a motorcycle and a truck, on National Road No. 90 at the place called Lalla Khira Bridge, Mazagran Municipality, Hassi Mamache District. The second accident was the death of 1 person and the injury of 3 others with various injuries as a result of a collision between two cars, on National Road No. 17, Sirat Municipality, Bouguirat District. The third accident was the injury of 11 people with various injuries as a result of a bus transporting workers veering off the road and overturning on National Road No. 11, Stidia Municipality. Civil Protection services intervened to provide first aid to 64 people suffering from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning from heating appliances and water heaters in their homes across several provinces. The victims were treated at the scene and then transferred in stable condition to local health centers. Meanwhile, a 36-year-old man died in Algiers Province after being poisoned by carbon monoxide (CO) from a water heater in his home in the Mohamed Belaid-Sabala neighborhood of El Achour Municipality, Draria District. The victim’s body was transferred to Douira Hospital.

Civil Protection units also intervened to extinguish three separate urban fires in the provinces of M’Sila, Saïda, and Tizi Ouzou. No casualties were reported. Our emergency services successfully contained these fires and prevented their spread to neighboring areas.
