Civil Protection Units intervention results between April 28 and 29, 2026 (during the last 24 hours)

During the period from April 28 to 29, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 3,268 interventions (an average of one intervention every 26 seconds), including 2,183 medical evacuations and 559 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
Civil Protection units responded to a wide range of calls for assistance from citizens across several provinces of the country. In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 151 incidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in the deaths of two people at the scene and injuries to 151 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims received on-site medical attention and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious accidents occurred in the provinces of Algiers and Mascara. In Algiers, one person died when a motorcycle veered off the road on Prince Khaled Street in the municipality of Raïs Hamidou, Bab El Oued district. In Mascara, one person died when a car overturned in the area known as “Zaghloul Village,” in the municipality and district of Zahana.
For your information, Civil Protection units intervened to extinguish two urban fires in the provinces of Constantine and M’Sila. These fires resulted in five people suffering from shock. The first fire broke out in an apartment on the third floor of a nine-story building in the Ali Mendjeli neighborhood of El Khroub municipality and district in Constantine. The victims received on-site treatment and were then transferred to the local hospital. Our rapid intervention enabled us to control both fires and prevent their spread to neighboring areas.
Furthermore, Civil Protection divers in Bejaia province recovered the body of a 17-year-old boy who drowned in a pool of water at the “Kefreda Waterfall” in Taskriout municipality, Draa El Khenifra district. The victim’s body was transferred to the morgue at Kherrata Hospital.
For reference, the Civil Protection services of the state of Batna intervened to transport (02) deceased persons and 14 others with various injuries, following the collapse of a building consisting of (T.A+03) in the place called “Tazoult Road”, municipality and district of Batna. The victims were taken care of at the scene and then transferred to the local hospital, where the Civil Protection services deployed 07 intervention teams, including: 03 intervention trucks and 04 ambulances.
