Civil Protection Units intervention results between April 29 and 30, 2026 (during the last 24 hours)

Between April 29 and 30, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 3,317 interventions (an average of one intervention every 26 seconds), including 2,383 medical evacuations and 558 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
Civil Protection units responded to a wide range of calls for assistance from citizens across several provinces of the country. In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 159 interventions following numerous accidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in the deaths of 3 people at the scene and injuries to 211 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims received on-site treatment and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious incident occurred in El Oued province, where 1 person died and 1 was injured in a collision between a car and a motorcycle on National Route 16, in the municipality of Oued El Alenda.
Civil Protection units intervened to extinguish three urban fires in the provinces of Algiers, Ghardaia, and Souk Ahras. These fires resulted in one person suffering from respiratory distress after a fire broke out in an apartment on the second floor of a five-story building in the 1200-unit housing complex in the municipality and district of Baraki. The victim received on-site treatment and was then transferred to the local hospital. Our rapid intervention enabled us to control these fires and prevent their spread to neighboring areas.
Civil Protection personnel in the province of Ain Defla also intervened to recover the body of a 14-year-old boy who drowned in a pond in the area known as “Sidi Amar,” in the municipality of Sidi Lakhdar, district of Khemis Miliana. The victim was transferred to the Khemis Miliana hospital.
