Civil Protection Units intervention results between August 16 and 22, 2026 (weekly results)

  Between August 16 and 22, 2026, Civil Protection units recorded 27,977 interventions following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and providing security coverage for various events.

Regarding medical evacuations, our units carried out 15,830 interventions, during which 15,449 injured and sick individuals were treated and transported to hospitals by Civil Protection personnel.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 2,722 incidents involving 1,542 traffic accidents, resulting in 34 deaths and 2,013 injuries. The injured were treated and transported to hospitals. The highest number of casualties was recorded in Naâma province, with 7 deaths at the scene and 40 injuries in 9 separate accidents.

Civil Protection units also responded to 3,471 fires, extinguishing 2,411 fires, including residential, industrial, and other types of fires. The most significant fires were recorded in Algiers province (197 fires), Setif (109 fires), and Annaba (105 fires).

Furthermore, during the same period, our units carried out 5,954 interventions across various operations, rescuing 407 people in danger and providing 5,007 emergency medical services.

Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service during the same period, it carried out 8,729 interventions, enabling the rescue of 6,457 people from imminent drowning, as well as providing first aid to 1,934 people on site, in addition to transferring 329 people to local health centers. Eleven people drowned at sea, and five drowned in water bodies.

Similarly, the Forest and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened during the same period to extinguish 253 vegetation fires, including 50 forest fires, 22 scrubland fires, 46 brush fires, 3 crop fires, 53 fruit tree fires, 52 hay bale fires, and 27 palm tree fires, across several provinces of the country. It is worth noting that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to other vegetation.
