Civil Protection Units intervention results between August 24 and 25, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

   

Between August 24 and 25, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 4,636 interventions (an average of one intervention every 21 seconds), including 2,069 medical evacuations and 709 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 191 incidents across various provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in two fatalities at the scene and injuries to 216 others, ranging in severity. The victims received on-site medical attention and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious incident occurred in Annaba province, where one person died and three others sustained various injuries when a car veered off the road and overturned on National Route 44 in the municipality and district of El Bouni.

Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service over the past 24 hours, they carried out 1,083 interventions, rescuing 772 people from drowning and providing first aid to 282 individuals at the scene. An additional 28 people were transferred to local health centers. It is worth noting that no drowning deaths were recorded at beaches or other bodies of water yesterday.

During the same period, the Forestry and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened to extinguish 74 vegetation fires, including: 17 forest fires, 5 bush fires, 7 scrubland fires, 1 agricultural crop fire, 21 fruit tree fires, 18 hay bale fires, and 5 palm tree fires, across several provinces nationwide. It is worth noting that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to other vegetation.

Regarding interventions related to the Mawlid al-Nabawi celebrations, particularly those involving the use of fireworks and firecrackers, the Civil Protection units of Algiers province carried out 7 interventions to extinguish fires. These included:
In the municipality of Mohammadia, in the Zerhouni Mokhtar neighborhood, a fire that broke out on the balcony of an apartment on the eighth floor of a 15-story building was extinguished, with no casualties reported.

The Civil Protection units of Algiers province responded to these incidents. In the municipality of Bouiraa, specifically in the Al-Manzil Bousmaha neighborhood, a brush fire caused by firecrackers was extinguished. No injuries were reported.

In the municipality of Sidi Moussa, two fires were extinguished. The first involved a palm tree that caught fire due to fireworks. Additionally, a brush fire and a fire affecting four pine trees in the Al-Dahimat neighborhood were also extinguished. No injuries were reported.

In the municipality of Al-Madania, two fires were extinguished. The first involved a palm tree that caught fire due to firecrackers in the First of November Street neighborhood. The second involved brush and grass in the Diar Al-Saada neighborhood, also caused by firecrackers. No injuries were reported.

In the municipality of Bordj El Bahri, specifically in the Faizi neighborhood, our services extinguished a brush fire caused by firecrackers. No injuries were reported.
