Civil Protection Units intervention results between August 22 and 23, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

During the period from August 22nd to 23rd, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 4,232 interventions, averaging one intervention every 20 seconds. These included 2,086 medical evacuations and 440 other operations, across several provinces of the country, following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 171 interventions following numerous accidents across the country. These accidents resulted in 5 fatalities at the scene and injuries to 257 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals.
For your information, the Civil Protection services of Ain Temouchent intervened following a fire that broke out in a two-story house (ground floor + 1st floor) in the area known as Sassal Beach, Ouled Boujemaa municipality, El Amria district. The fire resulted in injuries to three people with varying degrees of burns, and two others were in a state of shock. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to the local health center. Our emergency response enabled us to control the fire and prevent it from spreading to neighboring areas.
Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service during the last 24 hours, 1,144 interventions were carried out, resulting in the rescue of 812 people from imminent drowning, the provision of first aid to 297 people on site, and the transfer of 33 people to local health centers. Two (2) drowning deaths were recorded in the sea: one young man drowned at the beach known as Shooting Range (a beach open for swimming outside of lifeguard hours) in the province of Algiers, and one 27-year-old drowned at El Kef El Asfar beach (a beach where swimming is prohibited) in the municipality and district of Sidi Lakhdar. The bodies of the victims were transferred to local hospitals by Civil Protection personnel.
Likewise, the Forest and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened during the same period to extinguish 42 fires of vegetation, including: 4 forest fires, 12 scrubland fires, 16 fruit tree fires, 6 hay belt fires and 4 palm tree fires, across several states of the national territory. It is worth mentioning that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to the rest of the vegetation.
