Civil Protection Units intervention results between August 26 and 27, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

  Between August 26 and 27, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 4,674 interventions (an average of one intervention every 18 seconds), including 2,103 medical evacuations and 819 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 159 interventions following numerous accidents across various provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in the deaths of 9 people at the scene and injuries to 244 others, ranging in severity. The victims received on-site treatment and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious incident occurred in the province of Relizane, where 1 person died and 38 others sustained various injuries following a collision between a passenger bus and a semi-trailer truck on the highway linking the provinces of Relizane and Mostaganem, in the municipality of Sidi Khattab, El Matmar district.

Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service over the past 24 hours, they carried out 978 interventions, rescuing 724 people from drowning and providing first aid to 222 people at the scene. Additionally, 32 people were transferred to local health centers. No drowning deaths were recorded at sea.

Likewise, the Forest and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened during the same period to extinguish 193 fires of vegetation, including: 47 forest fires, 31 bush fires, 57 scrub fires, 1 agricultural crop fire, 35 fruit tree fires, 18 hay bale fires and 4 palm fires, across several states of the national territory. It is worth mentioning that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to the rest of the vegetation.
