Civil Protection Units intervention results between August 6 and 8, 2026 (during the last 48 hours)

Between August 6th and 8th, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 9,028 interventions (an average of one intervention every 19 seconds), including 4,110 medical evacuations and 979 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 424 incidents across various provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in 13 fatalities at the scene and 536 injuries of varying severity. The victims received on-site medical attention and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious incident occurred in Tiaret province, where 6 people died and 2 others sustained various injuries following a collision between a car and a truck on Provincial Road No. 2, in the municipality of Chahmiah, Ain El Dahab district.
For your information, the Civil Protection intervened to extinguish seven urban and other fires in the provinces of Algiers, Batna, Medea, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Setif, Mila, and Mostaganem. These fires resulted in three people suffering from respiratory distress in Bordj Bou Arreridj, one woman with first-degree burns in Mila, and one person with minor burns and another with respiratory distress in Mostaganem. The victims received on-site treatment and were then transferred to local hospitals. Our emergency services successfully contained these fires and prevented their spread to neighboring areas.
Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service during the last 48 hours, they carried out 1,791 interventions, rescuing 1,199 people from drowning and providing first aid to 509 people on site. Additionally, 83 people were transferred to local health centers. One young man, aged 23, drowned at the Blue Beach in the municipality of Staoueli, Zeralda district. The body was transferred to the morgue of the local hospital.
It should be noted that three people died in water reservoirs in the provinces of Khenchela and Laghouat. In Khenchela province, two teenagers, aged 15 and 16, drowned in an irrigation basin in the area known as Mchta Ouled Ali Ben Aissa, in the municipality of Remila, in the district of Khenchela. In Laghouat province, a 16-year-old drowned in the Seklafa Dam, in the municipality of Oued Mzi, in the district of Oued Mra. The victims were transferred to the morgues of local hospitals.
Likewise, the Forest and Agricultural Crops Firefighting Service intervened during the same period to extinguish 57 vegetation fires, including: 10 forest fires, 1 bush and scrubland fire, 14 dry grass fires, 3 agricultural crop fires, 10 fruit tree fires, 9 hay belt fires, and 10 palm tree fires, across several states of the national territory. It is worth mentioning that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to the rest of the vegetation.
