Civil Protection Units intervention results between December 11 and 13, 2025 2025 (within the last 48 hours)
Between December 11 and 13, 2025 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 6,120 interventions (an average of one intervention every 28 seconds), including 3,848 medical evacuations and 801 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 343 incidents across several provinces nationwide. These accidents resulted in 13 fatalities at the scene and injuries to 392 others, ranging in severity. The victims received on-site medical attention and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious incident occurred in Laghouat province, where one person died and two others sustained injuries when a vehicle veered off National Route 129, in the municipality of Tadjerouna, Ain Madi district.
Civil Protection services also intervened to provide first aid to 23 people suffering from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning due to faulty water heaters and heating appliances in their homes. These incidents occurred in the provinces of Oum El Bouaghi (5), Naâma (9), Blida (5), and Relizane (4). The victims received on-site medical attention and were then transported to local hospitals. Unfortunately, two deaths due to carbon monoxide poisoning have been recorded. The first incident occurred in Tiaret Province, involving the death of an 87-year-old woman who inhaled carbon monoxide emitted from a stove in her home on Bougendja Mohamed Street, in the municipality of Mahdia. The second incident occurred in Blida Province, involving the death of a 47-year-old man who inhaled carbon monoxide emitted from a water heater in his home in El Gharaba, in the municipality of Soumaâ.
It should be noted that the Civil Protection intervened to extinguish three urban, industrial, and other fires in the provinces of Algiers, Batna, and Tizi Ouzou, without any casualties. Our emergency services successfully contained these fires and prevented their spread to neighboring areas.
Our units in Adrar province also intervened to recover the bodies of two deceased children, both seven years old, following the collapse of a wall in the area known as Qasr Tiliouine El Mourabitine, in the municipality of In Zghimer.
Furthermore, our emergency services in Tissemsilt province evacuated the body of a deceased five-year-old child to the local hospital. The child had been killed by a falling rock in the area known as Douar El Halayek, in the municipality of Bounaama.
Additionally, in Tizi Ouzou province, our services provided first aid to two individuals and then evacuated them to the local hospital following a butane gas cylinder explosion inside a residence in the area known as Taghrast, in the municipality of Chemini.
