Civil Protection Units intervention results between February 12 and 14, 2026 (in the last 48 hours)
Between February 12th and 14th, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 6,723 interventions (an average of one intervention every 25 seconds), including 4,103 medical evacuations and 1,335 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, weather-related incidents, and security operations.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 359 interventions following numerous accidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in the deaths of 10 people at the scene and injuries to 415 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals. The heaviest toll was recorded in the province of Tebessa: the death of three people following a car rollover and fall from a bridge on Provincial Road 41 in the municipality and district of El Kouif.
Civil Protection services intervened to provide first aid to nine people suffering from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning due to faulty heating appliances and water heaters in their homes. The incidents occurred in the provinces of Laghouat (2 people), Algiers (3 people), Setif (1 person), Annaba (1 person), Medea (1 person), and Oran (1 person). The victims were treated at the scene and then transported in stable condition to local healthcare facilities.
For your information, Civil Protection units intervened to extinguish five separate urban fires in the provinces of Bejaia, Ghardaia, Djelfa, Blida, and Mila. These fires resulted in first-degree burns to two people in Bejaia, second-degree burns to three people in Ghardaia, and injuries to two people in Djelfa. The victims received on-site treatment and were then transported to local hospitals. Our intervention successfully extinguished these fires and prevented their spread to neighboring areas.
Regarding the results of the Civil Protection interventions related to the weather fluctuations related to strong winds that affected 13 provinces during the last 24 hours, including the provinces of Algiers, Sidi Bel Abbes, Oran, Tlemcen, Bouira, Tipaza, Naama, Relizane, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Blida, Boumerdes, Touggourt and M’Sila, our services carried out several interventions to deal with 61 different intervention operations, including 45 interventions for falling trees, 12 interventions for falling poles and electrical cables, as well as 4 operations for the collapse of external walls, building roofs and cracks in walls, with the recording of 5 victims in the provinces of Oran, Bouira, Relizane, Blida and Boumerdes. The necessary first aid was provided to the victims and they were transferred to the local health sectors.
