Civil Protection Units intervention results between February 14 and 15, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

During the period from February 14 to 15, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 3,614 interventions (an average of one intervention every 23 seconds), including 1,799 medical evacuations and 940 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, weather-related incidents, and security operations.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 190 interventions following numerous accidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in one death at the scene and injuries to 258 others, ranging in severity. The victims were treated at the accident sites and then transported by our services to local health centers. The most serious incident occurred in Ghardaia province, where one person died in a collision between a motorcycle and a car in the Bassa neighborhood of Berriane municipality and district.

Civil Protection services intervened to provide first aid to 33 people suffering from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning due to faulty heating appliances and water heaters in their homes. The affected areas were distributed across the provinces of Naâma (8 people), Bouira (7 people), Tlemcen (4 people), Tiaret (4 people), Djelfa (4 people), Aïn Témouchent (2 people), Boumerdès (1 person), Constantine (1 person), Algiers (1 person), and Batna (1 person). The victims were treated at the scene and then transported to local health facilities. Three deaths from carbon monoxide poisoning were also recorded: two men, aged 33 and 27, died in Boumerdès province after being poisoned by a water heater in a house in the Adl neighborhood of Tidjelabine municipality, Boumerdès district; and one woman died in Algiers province. A 65-year-old woman died from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning caused by a faulty water heater in her home in the Ain Zbouja neighborhood of Sidi M’hamed municipality and district. Her body was transferred to local hospitals.

The incident occurred in the Ain Zbouja neighborhood. Regarding the Civil Protection interventions related to the severe weather, particularly the strong winds that affected 10 provinces in the last 24 hours, including Bouira, Sidi Bel Abbes, Ain Temouchent, Bejaia, El Bayadh, Relizane, Mostaganem, Tissemsilt, Mila, and Annaba, our services carried out several interventions to address 29 different incidents. These included 6 interventions for fallen trees, 6 interventions for downed power poles and cables, 16 incidents for collapsed exterior walls, building roofs, and cracks in walls, and 1 incident involving falling objects. Two (2) victims were injured in the province of Sidi Bel Abbes. The necessary first aid was administered to the victims, and they were transferred to the local health center. Civil Protection services also carried out several operations to rescue and evacuate people in dangerous situations due to rainfall in the provinces of Sidi Bel Abbes, Bejaia, Mascara, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Tissemsilt, El Tarf, and Skikda. In the province of Sidi Bel Abbes, a bus was removed from a ditch. Following its deviation due to the accumulation of rainwater, and the removal of a truck stuck on the edge of the road at the level of the road linking Sidi Lahcen and the village of Al-Jawahir in the municipality of Sidi Lahcen, as well as carrying out 03 operations to pump rainwater in the municipalities of Mustafa Ben Ibrahim, Boukhnefis and Sidi Bel Abbes, at the level of the state of Bejaia: removing a bus with 26 people on board stuck in the mud on the municipal road of Chemini in the municipality of Chemini, as well as removing two buses trapped by snow in the place called Les Antennes, the municipality of Akfadou, at the level of the state of Mascara: the rise in the water level of the Bouala River, which led to the closure of the state road No. 58 at the Bouala roundabout bridge in the municipality of Benian, at the level of the state of Bordj Bou Arreridj: evacuating 05 people who were trapped by snow on the national road No. 76 in the municipality of Bordj Zemoura, as well as carrying out 06 operations to pump rainwater in the states of Tissemsilt, El Tarf and Skikda.
