Civil Protection Units intervention results between February 18 and 19, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

During the period from February 18 to 19, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 3,932 interventions (an average of one intervention every 21 seconds), including 2,798 medical evacuations and 523 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 184 interventions following numerous accidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in one death at the scene and injuries to 201 others, ranging in severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious incident occurred in Tipaza province, where one person died and another was injured when a motorcycle collided with a pedestrian on the highway towards Sidi Ghilas, in the municipality and district of Cherchell.
Civil Protection services intervened to provide first aid to 24 people suffering from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning due to faulty heating appliances and water heaters in their homes. The incidents occurred in the following provinces: Naâma (7 people), Relizane (4 people), Batna (4 people), Oran (3 people), Chlef (3 people), El Bayadh (1 person), Médéa (1 person), and Tlemcen (1 person). The victims were treated at the scene and then transported to local health centers.
In addition, Civil Protection services in Algiers intervened to extinguish a fire in a warehouse in the area known as Houch Brounsi, in the municipality and district of Rouiba. The fire resulted in first and second-degree burns to two people. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported to the local hospital. Our intervention successfully extinguished the fire and prevented its spread to neighboring areas.
For reference, the Civil Protection services of the state of Batna intervened following a city gas explosion inside an apartment on the ground floor of a building consisting of (T.A + 04), in the Jana neighborhood, municipality and district of Arris, which resulted in the injury of 01 woman with various burns and 01 child in a state of shock. The victims were taken care of at the scene and then transferred to the local hospital.
