Civil Protection Units intervention results between February 19 and 21, 2026 (in the last 48 hours)

Between February 19 and 21, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 4,422 interventions (an average of one intervention every 39 seconds), including 3,287 medical evacuations and 575 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 299 interventions following numerous accidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in the deaths of 4 people at the scene and injuries to 344 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious accidents were recorded in the provinces of El Oued, Ain Temouchent, Tamanrasset, and Tebessa. In El Oued province: 1 death and 1 injury following a collision between two vehicles on National Road 16, in the municipality and district of Oum El Ouensa. In Ain Temouchent province: 1 death following a truck veering off the road on National Road 101, in the municipality of Oued Berkach and the district of Hammam Bouhadjar. In Tamanrasset province: 1 death following the overturning of a semi-trailer truck on National Road 1, in the municipality of Ain Amguel and the district of Tamanrasset. Tebessa: One person died in a collision between a car and a truck on National Route 16, in the municipality and district of Laouinet.

Civil Protection units intervened to extinguish seven urban and other fires in the provinces of Algiers, Blida, Ain Defla, Mila, Khenchela, In Guezzam, and Adrar. The most significant fires occurred in the provinces of Adrar and Khenchela. In Adrar, a child died and a woman sustained burns in a house fire in the “Al-Mankoubin” neighborhood, in the municipality and district of Adrar. In Khenchela, one person died in a fire at a greenhouse used as a poultry farm in the “Ouled Bouali” area, in the municipality of El Mahmel and the district of Ouled Rechache. The victims were transported to local health facilities.

Likewise, the Civil Protection services of the state of Bordj Bou Arreridj intervened following a city gas explosion on the ground floor of a building consisting of (T.A + 01) located in the village of “Taferna”, the municipality of Ghilassa and the district of Bordj Ghedir, which resulted in the injury of 08 people with burns and various wounds. The victims were taken care of at the scene and then transferred to Bordj Ghedir Hospital.
