Civil Protection Units intervention results between February 24 and 25, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

 

    

During the period from February 24 to 25, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 2,871 interventions (an average of one intervention every 30 seconds), including 1,982 medical evacuations and 508 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

In the context of traffic accidents, the Civil Protection units carried out 152 interventions following numerous accidents recorded across several provinces of the country, resulting in the death of 5 people at the scene of the accidents and injuries to 165 others of varying severity. The victims were treated at the scene of the accidents and transferred by our services to local hospitals. The most fatal accidents were recorded in the province of Bejaia: 1 death and 5 injuries as a result of a collision between two trucks, on National Road No. 12, in the municipality and district of El Kseur. In the province of Batna: 1 death and 1 injury as a result of a collision between a car and a motorcycle, on National Road No. 88, in the municipality of Ouled Fadel, district of Timgad. Also in the province of Tebessa: 1 death and 1 injury as a result of a collision between two cars, on Provincial Road No. 82, in the municipality of El Merij, district of El Ouenza. Also in the province of Setif: 1 death as a result of a collision between a car and a truck. On the heavy vehicle route in the municipality and district of El Eulma, in the province of Constantine: One person died after being struck by a train in the El Qamas neighborhood, in the municipality and district of Constantine.

Civil Protection services also intervened to provide first aid to seven people suffering from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning due to faulty heating appliances and water heaters in their homes. The incidents occurred in the provinces of Ain Temouchent (4 people), Tlemcen (2 people), and Medea (1 person). The victims were treated at the scene and then transferred in stable condition to local health centers.

Furthermore, Civil Protection services in the province of Souk Ahras responded to a gas explosion in a fifth-floor apartment of a five-story building (ground floor + 5 floors) in the 50-unit housing complex, in the municipality and district of El Marahna. Two people sustained second-degree burns and were treated at the scene before being transferred to the local hospital.
